Dr John Skerritt joined the Australian Department of Health in 2012 and is currently a Deputy Secretary and member of the executive team of the Department of Health. He was formerly the National Manager of the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), until his role was expanded and that position was absorbed into his current role. He also has responsibility for the Department’s Office of Drug Control which among other functions, is responsible for developing and implementing Australia's medicinal cannabis regulatory scheme. He is an Adjunct Full Professor in medicine, pharmacy and agriculture at the Universities of Sydney, Canberra and Queensland.
