Captain Martin Shimer is the Deputy Director of the Division of Legal and Regulatory Support within the Office of Generic Drugs Policy (OGDP) at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). He was commissioned as an officer in the US Public Health Service in July 2000 and joined the Office of Generic Drugs where he has worked in several leadership roles over the past 19 years. In his current position, he assists with the daily management of the Division and directly supervises the Patent and Exclusivity Team. The Patent and Exclusivity Team administers Paragraph IV 180-day exclusivity, Competitive Generic Therapy 180-day exclusivity, maintenance of the Paragraph IV website, and various other issues including ANDA the prioritization of ANDAs.
